Jim Scott 1908 - 1983

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the Johnsonville Bowling Club during 1983, When we Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Clubs founding. I wish to invite you to participate in activities planned to make our 75th year a memorable one.

We are all indeed privileged to be associated with this Club, which due to the efforts of many people and assistance from organisations such as the Wellington City Council over the past 75 years, has developed into the very popular and progressive club we now have. We certainly owe a great debt of gratitude to our predecessors and also a number of our present members for their efforts in providing the top class greens and facilities we are proud of and enjoy. It is now our duty to continue development of our club to ensure that it progresses and that future members are catered for as we have been.

I wish to express thanks to the Johnsonville Women's Bowling Club with whom we have been associated with since the beginning of their club in 1947. Without the continuing assistance we have received from their members I am sure our club would not be as prominent as it is today.

My thanks go to the committee who have spent considerable time and effort researching the club's records and compiling this book for this 75th Jubilee.

Finally I wish everyone an enjoyable time during our celebrations.

Jim Scott
