The diversity of the players in this rather unique event is quite special. JBC began Summer Evening Community Bowls on Tuesdays back in 2002, and the event has been going strong ever since. Although other clubs were running similar events at the time, usually Business House Bowls or something similar, Johnsonville was the first to focus on the wider local community, thus the Club’s Executive chose to name the event Community Bowls. Teams are playing to win the Todd Anquetil Cup. Todd was a Club stalwart and enthusiastic supporter of the development of Community Bowls.
Here’s hoping this season’s competition isn’t affected by Covid, or weather, or some other unavoidable disruption.
