L/R Terry & Adam

By Allan Galbraith

It’s not unusual for a player to win more than one championship in a season, but it certainly is for a player to win two on successive evening “catch-up” games. As we reported last night, Terry Dean won the Men’s Junior Pairs with Kevin McAlister. This evening he faced Adam Ryan in the final of the Men’s Junior Singles. This significant trophy, the C H Grant Cup, goes back to the 1947/48 season, so there’s plenty of history there – many of those whose names are on it going on to higher-level successes.
In the first part of the game, it looked unlikely that Terry would make it two in a row, with Adam shooting out to a quick 7-0 lead. However, Terry settled into his game, and it was neck and neck until he managed to take a 14-11 lead on the back of two fours. He then held on to win 21-15.
