Thirteen pairs started in this event, with six qualifying in the preliminary rounds. The competition was completed today, with play from the quarters to the final. To reach the finals Ken Brown and AJ Cronin beat Ian Franklin and Terry Dean; and Gareth Evans and Keith Alexander won against Allan Brider and Ian Hutchison.
The final began mid-afternoon in dull and cool conditions with rain threatening. Fortunately, the deluge held off until just after the last bowl was bowled. Gareth and Keith took an early lead in the game and held on to it until the 13th of 14 ends, when, with the score 8-16 against them, Ken and AJ decided it was time to shake hands.
