Men's Champ Triples Final

The current Champ Triples trophy is a silver jug, presented by Mel Steel in the 1976/77 season. This evening’s final’s contestants were closely matched, with two teams of our most experienced bowlers competing. The two skips know all about this competition, with Rob Ashton having won it 19 times and Bruce Henderson 8. Rob was with Phil Todd and Wayne Coleman; and Bruce with Ian Franklin and Isi Taito.

The game was played in front of a small but appreciative audience. As might be expected from those teams, it was an intense encounter. With the teams neck and neck throughout, it was not surprising that it was 13-all at the last end, with Bruce managing a single on the last to take the game.
