Oh, so close. Both Dale and Logan reached the final of the Centre Open Singles, after rain caused play to be transferred from JBC to Naenae – with the late start meaning that play for the men went on till after 7pm.
On the Men’s side, Logan beat Russell Dive of Hutt and then Paul Smith of Silverstream, to set up a final against Blake Signal of Stokes Valley. The few spectators still around by that time saw a truly epic game of skilful bowls that saw Logan hold a 19-11 lead, before Blake, calling on all his experience, clawed back to take it 21-19. It was worth the late finish!
