L/R Ian Franklin, Neil Hargreaves, Phil Todd, Wayne Coleman, Rob Ashton And Trevor Ross

After a long weekend of bowls, the Henselite Centre Open Triples was completed today, with the Women’s semis and final, and the Men’s quarters, semis and final at Silverstream.
At the start of the day, Johnsonville teams were featuring strongly, with two teams of women and two of men in with a chance of winning. Unfortunately, on the women’s side, teams skipped by Paula Meredith and June Wairoa faced each other in the semi-final. June’s team prevailed in that round and went on to face a Naenae team skipped by Lisa White in the final.womenopentripleswinners2022 23
On the men’s side, our teams were on separate sides of the draw. Both won their quarter matches and went on to the semi-finals, with Rob Ashton’s team of Phil Todd and Wayne Coleman meeting a Victoria triple skipped by Barry O’Brien. Our other men’s team, Trevor Ross, Ian Franklin and Neil Hargreaves, met a Stokes Valley triple skipped by James-Cameron Powell. Both JBC teams won those games and so went on to meet in an all-Johnsonville final.
In the Women’s final, our team of June Wairoa, Lil George and Lui Hare couldn’t keep up their winning form, losing to Naenae, with the brilliant Lisa White in good form, and ably supported by Sharon Ritchie and Andrea Gray.
He doesn't run up and down the green as quickly or as much these days, but Rob Ashton, well supported by Phil and Wayne, showed that he is still capable of skipping a winning team, with a fairly convincing win over Trevor, Frankie and Neil.
All-in-all, a good day on the greens for JBC.
