Following on from JBC’s clean sweep of the Centre Open Fours, JBC players took the top spots in the Aerial Master Open Singles at JBC yesterday.
After two day’s play JBC started day three with three women and seven men with a chance of glory. At the end of the day, it was veteran Paula Meredith and the relatively inexperienced Craig Walker who won their respective finals against Stokes Valley opponents.
Paula faced the highly experienced Birdie Love in the Women’s final. Although Birdie was competitive throughout, Paula’s consistency saw her take the game 21-9. Craig’s game against the 19-year-old talented up and comer, Jordan Keene, was up there with some of the best you are likely to see. These two, less well-known players, produced some exceptional draw bowls and, although Jordan was in the lead for most of the game, the two were always in touch. With the score at 20-16 against him, Craig produced a run of five single shots to take the game 21-20, with a finishing flourish of two touchers in the ditch.
